Tuan Nguyen is the managing partner and the head of IP & franchise
group of bizconsult law LLC, a reputable corporate commercial law firm
in Vietnam. He has practiced in the area of intellectual property and
business law since 1989 and is widely recognised for his extensive
experience in the protection and enforcement of intellectual property
rights in Vietnam. Tuan advises clients and handles all matters related
to the trademark and patent registration matters, oppositions and
revocations, licensing and assignments of IP assets in Vietnam as well
as Laos and Cambodia. He also has extensive experience in franchise and
technology transfer transactions which involve IP matters in automobile,
foods and drinks, retail business services, medical services, movies,
music and media industries.
He is an active member of the Anti-Counterfeit Subcommittee of the Asian
Patent Attorneys Association (APAA) and Anti-Counterfeit Committee of
the International Trademark Association (INTA). In 2010, he was awarded
by Asia IP Magazine in Hong Kong with
The Landmark Case of Trademark Cancellation for Nonuse in Vietnam. Tuan is co-contributors to the
International Franchise Sale Laws – Vietnam Chapter, published by
American Bar Association in 2011.
Apart from intellectual property practice, Tuan Nguyen is a reputable
business lawyer in the areas of foreign investment, corporate matters,
real estate transactions, and M&A in Vietnam. He acts for largest
foreign corporations, foreign-invested enterprises and Vietnamese
corporations in numerous business transactions in Vietnam; advises them
on all aspects of the laws of Vietnam on investment and business and
assists them in drafting and preparation of business
agreements/documents, represents in the negotiation with their partners
on business contractual terms and conditions, and represents in dealing
with working with authorities of Vietnam for obtaining necessary
licenses/permits for their business activities in the country. In the
M&A/Corporate practice, he acts for foreign clients (investment
funds and corporate investors) in numerous deals of acquiring/purchasing
shares of Vietnamese enterprises.
In 2006, he was awarded by
Asian Counsel Magazine with
M&A Deal of the Year,
a complicated business deal he acted for Daewoo International
Corporation to acquire a 1000 worker garment factory from a local
company in Vietnam. The firm was also awarded and ranked by
international and regional organisations in legal profession, such as
Corporate Law Firm of the Year in Vietnam by Corporate International Magazine (in UK) in 2009 and 2010,
