Dr Soon Moo Soh heads Yulchon’s tax practice group. Before joining the
firm in 2000, he served as a judge for 20 years, including four years as
a research judge at the Supreme Court of Korea.
Dr Soh has participated in many landmark decisions as both a lawyer and a judge. Recently, he was selected by the
Chosun Daily as one of “This Era’s Best Lawyers” in the area of taxation. Dr Soh authored the best-selling textbook
Tax Litigation,
now in its 5th edition, as well as numerous articles on taxation. He
was also a lecturer at the Judicial Research and Training Institute and
at the University of Seoul.
Dr Soh has served in many organisations outside of the law firm. He was
an outside director to KT&G, a non-standing commissioner for the
Korean Independent Commission Against Corruption, and an executive vice
president of the Korean Bar Association. He is currently a legal adviser
to the Seoul Regional Tax Office, and a technical adviser to the Tax
Policy Review Council for the Ministry of Strategy and Finance.
Dr Soh earned his LL.B. (1974) and LL.M. (1997) from Seoul National University and a Ph.D. from Kyung Hee University (1999).
