Joyce A Tan is the managing partner of Joyce A Tan & Partners, a
corporate commercial law firm largely dedicated to the fields of
intellectual property (IP), technology and info-communications.
During her career, Tan has acted in numerous trend-setting transactions,
particularly in relation to cashless payment systems and
telecommunication networks and otherwise on the use, acquisition and
protection of IP and technology. Her practice spans all types of
commercial and M&A transactions, across industries which exploit IP
and technology and have evolved at the frontiers of changing business
practices and models. She is also involved in various film, music and
media transactions that rely heavily on the strategic management of IP.
Tan has held various positions in professional organisations and
government-supported bodies, including as member of the think-tank
Technology Law Development Group, Singapore, Legal Panel on Convergence
Issues, Info-Communications Development Authority of Singapore and
Working Group on Electronic Commerce, Singapore. She is a Panelist under
the Singapore Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (2001-2011) and an
associate mediator of the Singapore Mediation Centre. She has also been
Publications Chair (1996–1998), Chair of Technology and Communications
Committee 2002-2004 and Council Member At-Large (2006-2009), all of
IPBA. She is member of IBA, INTA, AIPPI, APAA, LESI and AIPA.
