Deepak Sadasivan graduated with an LLB(Hons) from King’s College,
London, in 1992 and thereafter was admitted to the Bar of England and
Wales in July, 1993 and to the Malaysian Bar on 24th June 1994. He began
his career as a legal assistant in Messrs. Adnan Sundra & Low in
January 1995 and became a partner in January 2000.
In the first five years of his practice, he was extensively involved in
corporate work including acquisitions, listings, joint ventures and
corporate restructuring exercises, as well as corporate and commercial
litigation. Since 1999, he has been primarily involved in capital
markets and finance work, and has advised extensively on numerous
transactions involving project finance, Islamic finance, derivatives,
structured finance and securitisation.
Some of the notable Islamic finance and structured finance transactions
that he has been involved in include Malaysia’s first synthetic
securitisation, Malaysia’s first exchangeable Sukuk, Malaysia’s first
securitisation of non-performing loans and Malaysia’s first Islamic
stapled securities.
