Mr Aseem Chawla is a partner at Amarchand Mangaldas and heads the firm’s tax practice.
Mr Chawla has extensive experience in advising large corporate houses on
variety of matters including international tax, inbound & outbound
investment structuring and cross border tax issues. He has also
represented clients in tax litigation matters before appellate forums.
Mr Chawla is regularly invited at various domestic and international tax
forums and contributes articles to a variety of journals and
newspapers. He is a member of several committees of professional bodies
and industry chambers.
He is the Asia-Pacific Regional Vice-Chair of the International Tax
Practice Group of Lex Mundi, the world’s largest association of
independent law firms. He is also a co-opted member of the Committee on
International Taxation, ICAI and a visiting professor with the ICAI
faculty.
Aseem has been consistently adjudged as one of the leading tax experts
by Asia Law Leading Lawyers’ Survey 2008, 2009 and 2010. In the 2010
survey undertaken by Chambers & Partners, Asia, Mr Chawla has been
identified as a prominent legal tax adviser in India. The tax practice
group led by Mr Chawla has also received several awards in the past.
