Archana Shanker is a senior partner at Anand and Anand, and heads the
Patents and Designs Practice of the firm. A product of Delhi Law School,
she went on to complete her PGD in Bioinformatics and Pharmaceutical
Regulatory Affairs. She is an active member of various international
bodies such as Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA), Association
Internationale pour la Protection de la Propriété Intellectuelle (AIPPI)
Federation Internationale des Conseils en Propriete Industrielle
(FICPI).
Archana’s comprehensive repertoire enables her to represent clients in
not only contentious matters in the pharmaceutical industry, but also
take care of Protection and Prosecution across a number of business
segments including Bioinformatics, Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology,
Chemicals, not only limited to India but also USA, Europe, Japan and
other key geographies.
Her unique and innovative approach has led to her clients winning
important claims of significant commercial value in the area of
Software, Mechanical and Electronics. She is leading the firm’s efforts
in nascent legislation of Geographical Indications, Plant Variety.
Archana handles complex Patent Litigation issues before various judicial
and quasi judicial forums in India such as the High Court and IPAB and
has been involved in advising her clients on Patent Strategies and
Regulatory Affairs.
Archana also specialises in Patent due diligence and advising her
clients on patent valuation, validity infringement and also licence
related issues.
Her contributions in the field of patents has earned her international
recognition and has been awarded the Leading Lawyer by Asia Law, World’s
leading patent and technology licensing lawyers by IAM and Worlds
leading patent lawyers by Who’s Who Legal in 2010.
