Marezban, or MP as he is often called, qualified as a solicitor in 1973
and joined the law firm of Mulla & Mulla & Craigie Blunt &
Caroe, Mumbai, where he specialised in arbitration and commercial
litigation. He joined Amarchand Mangaldas in 1995 as senior partner
heading the Mumbai dispute resolution practice. In 2008 he founded
Bharucha & Partners.
MP has acted, including as arguing counsel, in a number of large civil
disputes before courts and before arbitral tribunals. His practice has
covered technical issues in the oil exploration and production industry;
the construction of marine outfalls; electricity transmission and
distribution networks, tele-communications and infrastructure projects.
His practice also includes representing clients in disputes with their
joint venture partners and in regulatory investigations by the
securities markets regulator.
MP also has a significant corporate advisory and transactional practice.
Clients who initially retained Marezban for dispute resolution insisted
that he handle their transactional work. MP has vast corporate
experience ranging from mergers of banks, defending against hostile
takeovers, and corporate restructuring.
MP has also deposed as an expert on Indian law in several cases in
England, USA and Singapore. A number of publications have consistently
ranked him among India’s leading litigators
