Zia Mody is the founding and senior partner of AZB & Partners and is
one of India’s foremost corporate attorneys. A member of the New York
State Bar, Zia gained work experience in New York before returning to
India to set up her own practice. Zia is a non-executive director of
HSBC, Hong Kong, a member and Vice President of the London Court of
Arbitration (LCIA) and a member on several CII committees including
committees on corporate governance, capital markets, financial services,
legal services and mutual funds. She is also a Trustee of the Baha’i
School, New Era High School, in Panchgani.
Zia is acclaimed in India and globally for her expertise in Mergers
& Acquisitions, Joint Ventures, Private Equity and Venture Capital,
Securities Laws, Litigation and Dispute Resolution, and has advised on
some of the largest deals involving investments into and by Indian
companies. Among her many awards, she has been voted as “Business Woman
of the Year, 2010” by the Economic Times, for which she was recently
felicitated by The Society of Indian Law Firms (SILF) as the Law Leader
2010. And, in 2010, she was voted one of the 15 most powerful Indian
women leaders by the Economic Times.
