A partner with AZB & Partners, Mumbai, Shameek Chaudhuri heads up
the firm’s Capital Markets practice in Mumbai. He has been involved in a
large number and range of capital market deals and has advised various
issuers and banks in relation to issuance of shares (initial public
offerings, rights issues and qualified institutional placements), global
depository receipts, foreign currency convertible bonds, convertible
alternate reference securities, MTNs, bonds and Indian depository
receipts in the domestic and international markets. Shameek has recently
been involved in two of the largest hard underwritten rights issues in
India and was also involved in the first issuance, by an Indian
company, of shares with differential voting rights.
In addition to his capital markets expertise, Shameek has extensive
experience in Mergers and Acquisitions and has been involved in a number
of cross-border deals. He has advised various clients in their overseas
acquisitions and financing, across various jurisdictions such as the
UK, Netherlands, Mozambique, Singapore, the Cayman Islands, Mauritius,
Cote D’Ivoire, Indonesia and the US.
