A qualified solicitor in India, Kalpana Merchant has been in the
profession for over 20 years. Currently a partner with AZB &
Partners, in Mumbai, India, Kalpana Merchant has years of legal
experience in banking. She has been involved in securitisation and
structured finance transactions (including, leveraged buyouts, asset
backed, mortgage backed and collateralised debt obligation
securitisation) as well as in the drafting and negotiation of various
financing and acquisition documents including credit enhancement
documents and documents related to securitisation and structured
finance.
Kalpana has extensive experience in dealing with clients in the banking
sector and has also advised her clients on derivatives transactions
including International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA)
standard master agreements, syndicated loan agreements, external
commercial borrowings, financing of ships, aircrafts, factoring and
