A notable transaction for the firm was its work for AmIslamic Bank in a revolving financing facility, governed by the Islamic principle of Bai Bithaman Ajil, to part-finance the construction of the Mydin Hypermarket. This deal was completed in April 2011 and valued at RM110 million (US$37 million).

Shahrizat Rashid & Lee is regularly instructed by many domestic clients on corporate matters. One competitor says: “I’ve seen the firm across from us and its lawyers are great to work with.” The firm represented Ho Hup Construction Company in its proposed regularisation plan and acquisition of two companies. The team was involved in securing approval from the Securities Commission and Bursa Malaysia Securities. This matter is yet to be completed.

Shahrizat Rashid & Lee provides legal advice to a range of domestic clients, with peers recommending the firm for its “specialist services and great technical knowledge”. An example of the firm’s cross border work was its advice to German company Union Investment Real Estate on its acquisition of Capsquare Office Tower 2. Partner Loo May Pearl worked on this RM439 million (US$147 million) deal, which is yet to complete.
