The Firm
Concord & Partners originated from the former Beijing Foreign Economic Law Office, a prestigious state-owned law firm established in 1983 which transformed into a partnership law firm in 1995. Important Events at Concord
- 1989 BFELO was authorized by China Securities Regulatory Commission as the first law firm in China qualified to engage in the affairs of listed companies;
- 1990 Beijing Real Estate Law Firm and Legal Affairs Centre of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan was set up by BFELO at the same time;
- 1991 BFELO was appraised as one of the “Largest Law Firms with the Most Influence in China” by certain State authoritative institutions;
- 1991-1994 BFELO was No. 1 in undertaking legal business and in the amount of profit among the PRC law firms;
- May of 1995 Official establishment of Concord by means of restructuring;
- 1997 Concord was appraised as an “Outstanding Law Firm” by the Beijing Judicial Administration;
- 1998 Concord and together with 19 other domestic large law firms were honoured with the title of “Outstanding Ministry Level Law Firm” by the Ministry of Justice of the PRC, and was in the position of No. 5 in the nationwide appraisal of comprehensive strength;
- 1999 Concord was the only domestic law firm in China participating in the 1st Session of the China E-commerce Conference, and was one of the sponsors of this forum;
- March of 2000 Concord was appraised as the “Law firm with the Highest Client Satisfaction Rate”
- July of 2001 Concord was honoured as one of the “Ten Law Firms in China Engaged in Foreign Affairs” designated by the China International Economic & Trade Arbitration Commission;
- December of 2001 Concord was awarded “Outstanding Contribution to Criminal Defence” by the Beijing Lawyers Association for the outstanding performance of Concord lawyers in the Cases of Cheng Kejie and Li Jizhou.
