The firm acted for a multinational company intending to acquire a majority of the shares in a holding company that solely owns a US$60 million-sugar production company in Vietnam. Another transaction saw the firm representing Ho Chi Minh City Infrastructure Investment on its issue of international convertible bonds valued at US$40 million to foreign investors.

EPL Legal

EPL Legal has considerable experience handling various legal issues that arise from working with leading oil and gas companies in Vietnam. The firm acted for BW Offshore in a contract negotiation with PTSC for an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract in offshore Vietnam. This was one of the few international oil field services contracts in Vietnam governed by Vietnamese law.

Vision & Associates’ IP practice had another solid year handing all aspects of IP rights ranging from copyright to domain names in Vietnam. The team represented BASF, one of the world’s leading chemical companies in Germany, on its trade mark and patent licence agreement with Construction Research & Technology GmbH.

On another dispute, the firm represented Yahoo! Inc. when an infringer changed its name from ‘Yahooooo!!! Private Company’ to ‘New Net’ and removed all signs resembling the former name from its advertisement boards and name cards.
